Rather new to running, just over a year. Transferred from PG to LP. I have runner's knee right now, and am hopefully gonna be back to full strength by the end of August.

Short-Term Running Goals:

If i get back into shape with my knee well, I want to get under 16:45 by region. Indoor Track: Sub 4:45, 2:07, 10:40.

Outdoor Track: sub 4:40, 2:05, 10:20.

 

 

 

Long-Term Running Goals:

Do lots of trialhalons, and make a name for myself in my community.

You can now call me a Lone Peak knight. Today went different then expected. I didn't do very well on the run, but it was still a good day. I would give today a 6/10. We went just over 4 and a 1/2 on this one run that i can't remember the name of. There weren't very many guys there. 15 max. Today i could guess which people were returning runners and the newbies. THere are around 6 or 7 new freshman that are coming in, which is good. During the run i had to go to the bathroom the whole time. So, i turned a bit back before most. I shouldn't have done that. It made me look like a noob. I could tell that 3 guys there defintely had their spots on varsity, and adam for sure also( he wasn't there). I have been looking up times from athletic.com and mile split on runners from LP, and the next 2 after those guys were spencer king and william bradshaw. I found out that spencer king won't be coming very much. And if i am thinking of the right guy, william might not do XC. we was still at practice though. So that leaves 3 spots open max!! I really want to make varsity but i doubt i will be scoring. for Most of the first time runners it seemed like they pushed it too hard. I wouldn't be suprised if they are sore tomorrow. There are some things that have stood out to me about LP's boys team:

1. they all seem to be pretty good kids

2. they ALL kept their shirts on.

3. Jacob warner talks A LOT.

4. I have already found the spencer palmer for LP( the guy who bugs me a lot, i can't remember his name but he is a freshman).

Did a core workout afterwards. I haven't done a serious one in a while, so it was brutal. One of the coaches: tawny, i think, ran for PG in high school. Which was cool. I am getting a new pair of running shoes today. I have about 750 miles on my ones right now. They are falling apart. I rips all along the foot on both. Once i get them, tomorrow i will start to use the shoe mamager. I want to get a pair of saucony virrata's.

barefoot run at heritage park felt awesome. 1 mile exactly. Did a spped workout there and back from my house. it is .57 miles

We ran to sliding rock and back. THe coaches said that we didn't need to push it, and i was fine with that. But then clayson showed up, so it was a lot quicker than i anticipated it would be. We averaged around a 7:30 on the way up and around a 8:00 on the way back, which was weird. We went up 400 feet in elevation on the way and still went faster. Once we came back we ran to alpine elementary and back. This was around 6 minutes for the mile. Jamison has been giving me rides to and from practice today and yesterday. Once we about to leave, he realized that he didn't have the right key to open the car. So he had to go get his families huge bus like van to take us home in. THere were like 6 of us. I was starving. I had eaten a salad for breakfast, which is actually supposed to be good for u right before a run. I didn't feel sick at all, but i didn't eat enough. Ate 4 waffles once I got home. My dad bought me a pair of running shoes yesterday without me knowing. He bought them online. HE got me a pair of Altra torin's. They seemed like pretty good shoes. They are supposed to minimize  shin splints, bunions, and tendonitus. THey aren't supposed to come for another week.

I kept up with the "A" group for about for about 5 ish miles, so i was proud of myelf. Once i fell behind a little some of us slower guys turned back. It was only me and baker, but there were at least 3 others that should have come with us. The last mile, i had to pee really bad, so i pushed it a lot. Time was 5:42 for last mile.

I am on high adventure right now, and we are up cedar canyon in cedar city. To go running, i need to have a buddy, which is stupid because nobody wanted to go with me. I woke up early and sneaked out and did a slow run up and down some hills. Did a killer ab worjout afterwards. MIxture of PG andf LP"s.

3 slow in morning. Hill sprints next to camp. Not very steep, did 400's. between 70-75 on each. i got a guy to run with me today. He only did 3 of them though. vertical jump workout afterwards.

I laid an egg today at practice. I don't like making excuses but i have a couple. THe water wasn't working yesterday at my house for some reason, so i was super dehydrated. Also, i still have to run in my turd nugget shoes for another week. My order was messed up and I fixed it yesterday, and they are being shipped on wednesday. We took 2 little breaks with the A&B groups together, and at the first i came in at dead last, the second 2nd to last, by just a second though. once we got to lambert i went back with this guy named will. He seemed pretty chill. I found out that i beat him by 4 seconds at region, which was cool. once we got back we were only at 4.3 so we did an extra 2. For all of it i averaged a 7:24. We did abs afterwards, but not pushups, so i did some when i got home. I just did as many as i could do without taking a break. 48, yeah i'm a weakling. I think i am going to do that evry monday from now on.

Accordin to my watch, i ran 2.02 miles at a 25:18 pace. My satellites didn't finish loading until 2/3 of the way into the run. I started the stopwatch when we began though, so when it first started to work i had gone over 40 minutes without going anywhere. Besides that, an okayish run. 62 minutes. I actually finished around 55 but no one was back yet so i just did an extra mile so i wouldn't haft to wait. I stayed with the faster group for longert than yesterday, but i could tell that they were going slower than yesterday. This 11 year old kid kept up with the "A" group the whole time!! He is going to be crazy fast. i found out today that jacob warner is the 3rd fastest senior this year. 2nd in 5A. We ran through this persons backyard, and went through a "hobbit hole". A good, long run.

Today was probably the best day both fun wise, and how well i did. Did a trail run called "the mountain run" went through the top of lambert for a bit i think. My goal today was to finish right behind this justin kid. I stayed right with him until the last 3/4 of a mile when he went up with the fast group. When we finished the trail part, i came in 5th, so that was good. the guys ahead of me were: jacob, adam, jamison, and justin. With a mile left, i saw that i was averaging a 8:18. YIKES! I made a promise to myself that every run that I did that wasn't a super long run or super steep hills, I would always average under a 8 minute mile. I ran with baker the last mile and we hammered it. I ended up averaging a 7:52. My last mile was 5:53! I am making new friends every day at practice, which is good. At the moment, i am still not all gung-ho about transferring, but I know it's what i needed to do. I got an email from the internet website i ordered my shos from. They have been shipped. They are coming from the lake tahoe area, so they should be here by friday!

today for practice we played a game with chalk. One group would leave 3 minutes earlier and draw arrows where they went. Another group would wait 3 minutes and chase the chalk writers. I was a chaser. Right from the start, i knew that my group was going to lose. Our fastest guy was jamison. The other team had jacob warner and adam. I knew that jamison couldn't catch them . No offense to jamison thou. the first couple of miles were all uphill, and i was trying to stay within 50 yards of jamison. He was going pretty fast. the 2 mile split was at 12:18. Averaged a 6:45 overall. 5.5 miles  From what i heard, jacob w. was doing the chalk writing. At one point he started to run out of chalk, so i didn't know which way to go. Jamison and seth were just barely out of sight, and i was by myself so i had to wait for everyone else to catch up. Which took close to 5 minutes. THe slower ones in my group were: the 11 year old kid, jacob jensen and howie. Howie got lost and we never found him. we drove around for a while trying to find him. During this time i was supposed to be at work. I got to work 45 minutes late. But, by some miracle my brother wasn't there yet. In fact he showed up an hour and 15 minutes later. I worked for 8.5 hours, just weeding. terribly boring. But i get payed 9 an hour so i was a little more motivated to do it. When i got home i realized my shoes had came. Finally! Did an easy 3.5 mile  run with my dad at night averaged a 8:56. they are super comftorable. I wore a pg basketball shirt today to practice. Jacob warner that that my shirt is offensive. I thought about wearing my track or xc shirt tomorrow, but, we are having a breakfast burrito part at his house tomorrow, and i want to be able to have some. We are playing ultimate frisbee tomorrow and i am super excited for it.

5ish miles today. Went for a 28 minute 4 mile run, then ran to a park to play frisbee. At PG we would play ultimate for the whole workout, and i didn't see why we did this. After a 10 minute explination of how to play, we played for 5-10 minutes. Everybody's running together was probablt an 800. Went to lil warner's house afterwards ad made breakfast burritos. I go on my father's and son's campout tonight, and it's in heber. There are supposed to be some cool trails nearby, so i will brin my trail shoes and go for a short one tonight and a long one tomorrow. My shoes felt awesome, but it was weird having so muchroom for my toes. I will get used to it though.

Easy 3 at night at my campsite.

My mini xc camp. Was at 7500 ft in elevation, was breathing hard the whole time. 2 7.5 runs. Felt good to run in cooler weather. Used my trail shoes. same run, one in morning, 1 in afternoon. 2nd backwards of first. New team was doing a run called hog's hollw: a long, hilly, trail run, so i needed to do something hard.

Sliding rock and back and then to dumpster. Went with the "A" group for most of it. There were 5 super seniors there. Ran with clayson the last couple of miles. He said that he was originally going to move to lindon. That would have been way cool to have him on the pg team. 3 miles down were all under 6:15 but they were downwill. To dumpster was just under 6.

My family went to the super cool park that is like .5 miles from westlake. I went over to the course and did my own race simulation. I had just read that connor mantz had ran a 4:07, so i wanted to go fast. My watch said 2.98 at the end, so maybe i forgot a little something in the course. All I wanted to do was get sub 18, and I did! Final time was 17:48. If this was a real race, i think i could have been around 30 seconds faster. I was not very hydrated, ran in trainers, no competition, and I didn't prepare for it being a race mentally and physically, and also I had a good workout in the morning. I know my race time would be faster, but happy with my time. A good improvement from my 19:26 at region.

Ran the black trail again. I am already tired of it and we have only ran it 3 times. Once the "C" group turned back, we picked up the pace a lot. It was kind of weird today because jamison was kind of the guy in charge, because lil warner wasn't there. There were a couple of super seniors there, mike and mark, i think. . The last 2 were pretty fast. I kept up with jamison and mark and mike until the last half mile, when they pushed it more. I started to chafe( is that how u spel it)? and i slowed down a lot. Averaged a 7:15. Abs and core afterwards. Today when we were running on the roads i counted how many sporty cars i saw. 18 total!  9 Audis, 6 BMW's, 1 Maaserati, a camero, and my dream car a tesla. I think electric cars are cool, and so are sport cars. Electric sport cars are the bomb!

Did the mountain run with a lot of different long cut trails before and after. My favorite run we have done so far. I came in 2nd for the guys that are going to be on the team next year. galen and lil' warner weren't there. With about a mile left i had to tie my shoe, and my hand were freezing so it took close to a minute and a half. After that i did a hald mile tempo to catch up. My 800 split was 2:21! A fun run, but kind of weird. Was freezing to start out and at the end a couple of guys had their shirts off. One of our coaches: ryan, will be running with us tomorrow. He ran a 4:07 in either college or high school. I think it was college. Averaged a 7:46.

I fell behind today, but i think that was a good thing. My legs felt like lead for some reason, which is weird because yesterday wasn't a big hill workout. Two of our fastest runners, galen and zack, were back today which is good. lil' warner said that we were going to do "rodeo", which is a route u can take in lambert. I though that was weird, because runners aren't allowed to go on that route. After I fell behind, i realized that howie and shaun were way behind me. Both said that they weren't familiar with lambert. I went back and picked them up and started to go back, once we got off of lambert, i started to go race pace for that little trail between lambert and the hill sprints hill. I lost shaun right away and howie a little after that. I kept going past the hill for a little bit to get some more time in, and still pushed it. Then ran back to legacy and found out everybody had been back for something close to 15 minutes. Only lil' warner, clayson, and galen weren't back yet. Did abs afterwards. I found out today running basically kills ur vertical, and i was pretty pooped about hearing that. With doing my worjouts for my vertical, i have increased my leap 1.5 inches in a month. I am stil going to do the workouts. Averaged a 7:58 over the whole run. During the fast 1.4 mile split was 6:00. I am getting tired of distance runs. I can't wait until we start speed and tempo workouts, even if thier harder.

Did the mountain run backwards today. I like going forward on it a lot better. My calves felt like lead again, so i took it pretty easy. Averaged an 8:14, but i was fine with that. There is a breakfast party at some girls house, but today i would much prefer my bowl of grape nuts for some reason. I found out htat a lot of the guys on the team hate the girls team, which is kind of funny. There aren't any cute girls on the team though, which i am majorly dissapoited about. I had a dream last night that the PG team for field trip friday went to sliding rock. I made sure we didn't go there today.

Easy 4.5 with my sister at night.

I slept in, so i missed practice. Which was a bummer, because i haven't been to a saturday practice yet, and i won't be able to until the 3rd week of july. If there were such things as adventure runs on roads then today was one. First i went down to heritage park and went north on the trail to the end. Then i went up the hill to the trail that goies through the golf course. I joined the runners in the AF half from mile 8.5 until the finish, but i went out of the way before the finish line. I counted how many people that i passed, and i passed 247.5 people. When i was close to the finish line the clock for the half was just past 2 hrs. I turned back after that and went up to the pond and did a bunch of little trails. I went on the canal about half of a mile after that heading east. I ran into steven, which was suprising, because i thought we would be at practice. He said he didn't want to go running up another mountain today, so he went with his dad. Which i thought was funny, because from what i heard they were going to do a run called lehi dip, and that dosen't sound like a trail run. I then took a trail that i had never been on for a mile or 2 then heading back. At the end i finised it in 1 hour 31 minutes and 2 seconds. Averaged a 7:42. I was a little suprised, but when i was running with the people doing the half marathon, i was running sub seven pace the whole time. I saw happy with my run, it was a good one. Killer ab workout afterwards. I burned over 1500 calories during the run, so that was pretty cool. That's probably how much i'm going to eat today. I used to eat a lot but now I only eat at meal time, and my lunch and breakfast aren't very big. I got my watch on christmas, and today i hit the 1000 mile mark with it. no be exact, 1002.4 miles. I have burned over 100,000 calories since then, and for all of those miles i averaged a 7:58.

There were a ton of guys there 20 i think. a third of them were super seniors. Some are leaving on wednesday, so they said their final goodbye. I felt kinda aquard becasue they were saying by to everyone except me. We headed up to sliding rock, but it's closed off at the moment, so we went up that road for no reason. Headed over to the north stake center and the rest of the b team headed back so i did too. WIth a mile left, i was with the 11 year old byabiee kid, and craik. I told myself that i didn't want to be saying on here anymore that i finished next to an 11 year old, even if he is a beast for his age. Spencer king and this guy from michigan were probably a fifth of a mile ahead, and my goal was to catch up to them by the end. The last mile was downhill, which was nice, but i was still pushing it. Caught them at the end, and my last mile was a 5:38! super happy. I told craik to come with me, but he fell behind in about 30 seconds. Today when i was running by myself i ranked everyone on hw fast they were and what positions they would be in. here it is:

1-2 adam jensen and jacob warner. Jacob was faster in xc last year, but adam did way good during track, so idk who is faster.

3-4 Zack ericksen and jamison wilkes. i think zack is a little faster, but it's close.

5-10 a lot of guys in the mix. Jaxon, seth, justin, me and stephen, spencer king, and that kid that moved from michigan. Will be exciting to find out who ends up on varsity. I think i can pass spencer k., the kid from michigan, and steven. That would put me in the 8th spot. Seth and justin don't come very much, and jaxon 2-4 times a week. Can;t wait for the upcoming season. Will probably run some easy miles tonight.

fun miles with my sis at night. Went on the trail by the golf course and raced a golf cart was fun.

6.2ish, not exactly sure exact mileage, because i forgot my watch did the wall, which i though would be like crazy hill, but it was longer, and steeper in some places too. I was bummed i forgot my watch because i wanted to know the elevation change from bottom to top.

Just got back from my new wards scout camp no time to go running, which was dissapointing,  because i had 3 other people that would have ran with me. For the run averaged a 7:50.

A good run, went on the trails for about half of it. My birthday present from the team was running up pfiferhorn. Once we were on the road again and going downhill, I got an abnormal feeling in my hip, so i slowed it down. Took a detour on the way back. Averaged a 7:51.
